Michael Anderson, the founder and managing partner of Eclipse Corporate Development, has more than 12 years of professional experience in finance and operations management. For the last five years, he has served as a consultant specializing in financial and strategic turnarounds to protect owners' equity. He is proven in negotiations and organizational development change management.

His management consulting experience includes:

  • Development of a capital improvements plan for a rural Nevada hospital
  • Production of a financial feasibility study in support of a $2.75 million federal loan application for a rural Nevada association for retarded citizens.
  • Road mapping the creation and development of an alternative energy production company for a Midwest investment group.
  • Development of a successful operations closure exit strategy for a West Coast-based medical supply chain.
  • Design and implementation of a successful financial and strategic turnaround plan for the non-profit organization whereby the organization achieved revenues over expenses within six months and cash flow increased 1,000% within two years.
  • Operations start-up road-mapping and planning for an alternative fuels production company in the Midwest.
In addition to these projects, Mr. Anderson implemented a turnaround plan for the University of Nevada, Reno, computer labs. This plan eliminated several unprofitable departments' redundant costs through consolidation, implemented 360-degree feedback, and marketed computer-related products and services. This resulted in a cost reduction of 24%, increased employee morale, and increased customer satisfaction by 10% -- all within eight months. As a part of this work, Mr. Anderson developed and implemented the lab's budgeting model for salaries, future expansions and system updates, which is still in use.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Anderson founded and led four companies in California and Nevada. With one firm, he implemented a new marketing strategy for home computer service and sales that had yet to be offered in its region. He then founded a wholesale/retail distributor for major manufacturers, such as Casio, Maxell, and 3M. Focusing on aggressive hyper-growth management, accounts receivable and purchasing disciplines, this venture succeeded during a deep recession and foreign allocation limitations. Mr. Anderson later traded products ranging from commodities to consumer products through the establishment of one of the first and most popular Internet import/export trading boards, http://www.mblsales.com/Import_Export_Trading_Board/. Lastly, he assisted in networking international venture capitalists for projects greater than $1 million.

He continues in his role as president of MBL Sales, an OEM and compatible private label toner cartridge company. Using a continuous improvement management system, the company lowered the defect rate to less than 1% for the private label section, doubled sales eight out of the last nine years, and increased gross profit margins to 86% within one year.

Mr. Anderson is an adjunct faculty member in the undergraduate and graduate business management department at the University of Nevada, Reno. He instructs courses in strategic planning and turnarounds. His students consistently receive the Top 20 Global Business Strategy Game Competition award sponsored McGraw-Hill. Mr. Anderson recently co-developed a professional development seminar on crisis management during corporate turnarounds for the University of Nevada, Reno's Extended Studies Program.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree. Mr. Anderson serves as a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Trustee. He is also an examiner for the Nevada Governor's Award for Performance Excellence (APEX), a state-level Malcolm Baldrige Award program. He served as a business coach for the Silver & Gold Venture Capital Conference and judge for the Governors Cup Student Business Plan Competition for the past three years. Mr. Anderson is also a member of the Young Venture Capital Society. He is currently a Director of the Nevada Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and its 2007 program committee chair.
